Portfolio building

I spent this week building my professional portfolio for my upcoming interview at Bolton University.

My A1 portfolio will consist of work practical work, photographs and previous exhibition articles to show my development and progression over the course of the 2 yr HND course.

Logo design brief

A part of our modules was to create a collective name for the group and to design a logo for promotion and advertising. With close links to the Graphics Foundation Course, we put together a brief asking them to design and produce a logo that would instantly illustrate our small group 'Foursight Art'.
Below are a few of the designs presented to us;

We were extremely happy with the designs that the graphic students had produced, and that they had taken the time to create these for us. To decide on the final design we will hold a group meeting and put it to a vote.

A recent visit to the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, proved inspirational and stimulating, especially the large scale gunpowder work by Cai Guo-Qiang.
Immediately the scale of the artwork, the calmness it presented within the exhibited space, and the use of violent gunpowder utilised as a subtle mark media. This all presented on handmade paper has offered an avenue that I feel needs exploring for final outcomes. Seeing how marks and colour where portrayed on large scale textured handmade paper, will encourage me to explore my own creative direction, by informing the media I work with or on.
